We are looking for original short stories (between 750 and 1,000 words) that are fun and entertaining and/or makes us cry. Submissions should be previously unpublished both in print and on the internet (including blogs).

We pay $50 for each story accepted for publication. Please submit no more than one story a month.

JOEY magazine acquires first publication rights. The stories are yours to reprint in books or anthologies but we respectfully request you mention the story was first published in JOEY magazine.

JOEY magazine is ad-free and reader supported. If you like/love it, please consider donating to help cover the costs of running the site and paying the writers. Otherwise it might go away. Please note that a donation will have no affect on our evaluation of your short story for publication.

We do our best to respond to all stories within two to three months.
